What's the difference between the two modes?
The Wheel Spinner picks a random team name from a list. The Team
Generator splits a roster of real people into random balanced groups
— perfect for classrooms, sports practice, and workshops.
How many players can the team generator handle?
No hard limit. It works efficiently with any number from 2 to
hundreds. For very large groups, use the Bulk Add feature to paste
names from a spreadsheet.
What happens if players don't divide evenly?
Extra players are distributed one per team starting from Team 1.
Teams will differ by at most one member — as balanced as
mathematically possible.
Can I add custom team names?
Absolutely! In Wheel Spinner mode, use the entry panel to add any
custom team names. The wheel updates in real time as you add
entries.
How do I share the team results?
After generating teams, click Copy to Clipboard. This copies all
team rosters as formatted plain text you can paste into WhatsApp,
Slack, email, or Google Docs.
Is the randomization truly fair?
Yes. The team generator uses the Fisher-Yates shuffle algorithm — a
mathematically proven method ensuring every possible outcome is
equally likely, with zero bias.
Does it work on phones and tablets?
Yes! Both modes are fully mobile-responsive and work smoothly on
smartphones, tablets, and all screen sizes. No app download needed.
Can I save my player list for next time?
Player lists are not saved between sessions. Keep your list in a
plain text file, one name per line, and use Bulk Add to re-import
everyone in seconds.
Can I use this to split a class into project groups?
Yes — it's one of the most common uses. Add your class roster with
Quick Fill or Bulk Add, pick how many groups you need, and click
Generate Teams for an unbiased split every time.
Is the Wheel Spinner randomized the same way as the Team Generator?
Both use the browser's random number generator, but differently: the
wheel picks a random stopping angle, while the generator runs a full
Fisher-Yates shuffle on the player list before splitting it into
groups.
Can I turn off the spin sound effects or confetti?
Yes. The Settings card lets you set Music to None and switch off the
Confetti and Result Popup toggles if you'd rather spin in silence.
Is there a limit to how many teams I can create?
The quick-select buttons cover 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 8 teams, which
suits the vast majority of classrooms, squads, and game nights. You
can always reshuffle at a different count if your group changes.
