Random Pokémon Generator – Spin the Pokémon Wheel
Everything you need to know about this free random Pokémon generator
wheel above — how it works, how to filter by type, and how to build a
random team.
Table of Contents
1. What Is a Random Pokémon Generator?
A random Pokémon generator — also called a
Pokémon randomizer — is a free tool that randomly
selects a Pokémon from a pool spanning all 9 generations. This
interactive spinning-wheel version covers
over 200 Pokémon from Kanto through Paldea, and every
result shows the Pokémon's type, generation, and species category.
Unlike a simple list randomizer, the wheel gives every Pokémon an
identical mathematical chance of being selected —
there's no weighting or favouritism. The tool is completely free,
works on desktop, tablet, and mobile, and doesn't require an account.
2. How to Use This Generator
Picking a random Pokémon takes just a few seconds.
1
Choose Your Filter
Select All Pokémon for the full pool, or filter by type — Fire,
Water, Grass, Electric, Dragon, Psychic, and more.
2
Spin the Wheel
Click SPIN or tap the centre of the wheel and watch it slow down
to reveal your random Pokémon.
3
Explore Your Pokémon
The Pokémon Details card instantly shows the type, generation,
species category, and a notable ability.
4
Track & Build Teams
Every pick is logged in Spin History. Use Remove After Pick to
generate a random Pokémon team of 6 unique Pokémon with no
repeats.
3. Type Filters & Settings
The 18 type filter buttons above the wheel let you instantly narrow
the pool to a single type, making this a dedicated
random Pokémon type generator for Fire, Water, Grass,
Electric, Dragon, Psychic, and every other type.
In the Settings card you can adjust the
spin duration, choose a sound (Drum
Roll, Carnival, or Fanfare) and its volume, and toggle the
result popup and confetti on or off.
Turning on Remove After Pick takes each selected
Pokémon out of the pool so your next spin never repeats a result —
ideal for drawing a full team.
4. Building a Custom List
Switch the mode selector to Custom to open the Custom
Pokémon List card. Use the search box to find specific Pokémon, check
the ones you want, and use All or
None to quickly select or clear the whole list. Click
Apply to rebuild the wheel with only your chosen
Pokémon — perfect for a shortlist of starters, legendaries, or your
personal favourites.
5. How the Selection Works
Before each spin, the wheel uses JavaScript's
Math.random() to determine a target rotation angle, then
animates the wheel toward that angle with a natural deceleration
curve. The Pokémon under the pointer when the animation ends is the
result. Because every Pokémon occupies an equal arc on the wheel and
the target is set before spinning begins, every Pokémon in the active
pool has an identical chance of being selected.
6. Pokémon Types on the Wheel
All 18 Pokémon types are represented — click any type button above the
wheel to narrow the generator instantly. The table below breaks down
how many Pokémon belong to each type on the full wheel.
